If you want to start a fight with a politician, get your blog set up.

If you want to make money from home blogging, well why don’t you set up a blog.

If your getting married and want your gift registry online, do it on a blog.

If you want to make money from home, start building a blog right now.

Want to do some affiliate marketing, how about doing it on a blog.

If you want to capture names and email address of your visitors, use your blog as a squeeze page.

If you want to have a store online selling your Ebay stuff, set up a blog with your store on it. You get the point, I hope.

What a blog is used for exactly is whatever the individual behind that blog wants to do. You, in essence can set up an Internet journal wherein you are able to digitally write down your opinions, thoughts, feelings and/or just about  anything that you want people to read.

Occasionally, you’ll even come across bloggers who, instead of writing texts, make their blogs more audio friendly, by using audio entries or ipod casts. This is called audio blogging.

In layman’s terms, what is a blog used for depends totally on you and what you want to accomplish. You still here? You should be setting your blog up

There’s a lot to learn. Why not learn from someone who dominates web traffic. Most of the questions that people email me are are getting more traffic to their blogs. With search engine optimization, article marketing, social bookmarking, pay per click marketing and Goggle and their algorithms and so on. I understand the frustration. I too would love to have 1,000,000 hits a day to my site. It’s a process that I continually worked on. And you should too.

Here’s a video that I found that really simplifies one method that you can use to get internet web site traffic to your blog. We can’t make money blogging, if we don’t increase traffic to blog. We need to get folks to see all of this content that we are pumping out.

Building website traffic is not something that will happen overnight. It takes time and patience. If you’ve got the money to pay someone to do it for you, then by all means – go for it. There’s a very important step involved before you can whip up your blog and begin stroking out daily content; let alone making money with your blog. This task may seem pretty easy for some, but it may be the most time consuming and daunting task for others.  PICKING YOUR BLOG TOPIC. Yes. That’s it. I mean, there’s a lot to chose from. Whichever you choose, you want to make sure you are blogging about something you are passionate about.  Blogging about something that you have an interest in will, certainly, make it more fun in the long run. I mean, you will be doing this everyday. So think about this long and hard.

A blogger account is easy to set up and you can be up and running with your own blog in less than 6 minutes. Blogger is owned by Google so they love to index them provided you are dishing out some good content. How to blogger very simply put.

1. Set up an account. Go to www.blogger.com and set up an account.
2. You will have to chose a user name a password and a display name.You can use your real name, if you want. Name your blog. Don’t try to be fancy. Just name it. You may not even get the name you want so be open to a few different choices.
3. Chose your template. I believe blogger has some pretty neat templates you can chose from. Just pick one. Don’t think fancy yet. If you must, there’s loads of blogger templates available for free. You can discover them by doing a search in Google.

Congratulations! You have just completed the how to blogger test and you now have a live blog. You will be taken to a page where you can start writing and posting. You can change your settings, play with your template format and/or add some Adsense blocks. YEAH! YOU ROCK!

Niche blogs are generally blogs related to one or more particular industries or areas, including politics, cooking,  sicknesses, or sports etc.. The more niche, or in-depth your blog is, the more challenging it may be for folks not involved with in that niche to get in. It’s for this reason that you should think long and hard about the most effective way to make the most out of niche blogs, and coming up the right niche is a very good place to start.

When you are doing your research (please do some research) for the right niche for your particular blog, make certain you look at the prospective audience, and your ability to continue providing them with fresh content on your blog that is current within that niche. For example, if you’re thinking about blogging for profit in the dating niche, yet you have no desire or interest in what’s happening on the dating scene, it really will not make any sense to go into that subject. Alternatively, try to find a niche by considering what you do have an interest in and create your money-making blog on that instead.

The second step to blogging for profit with your niche blog is to become an expert. Never mind how much you believe you know about your niche blog topic, chances are you could use some polishing up on the matter. I suggest you accomplish this by simply joining other networks in your market and/or doing research on the  blog topic, and spending at least an hour studying the subject matter each day. It is imperative that you investigate your competition, as they will give you a great idea of what’s the happening in this niche and what is not. You competition is generally the pages that show up on the first two pages of google when you do a search for your niche.

**Remember though, there is room in every niche to blogging for profit as long as you have the right up (more on that later), education, determination and will to take action.

In conclusion what you want to become is the go-to-person or place for information in this niche. What that means is blogging for profit can be obtained by constantly updating your blog with fresh accurate information that folks can relate to.  If you work hard and stay focused, you will and make money blogging.

Okay. Okay. So you are not  a dummy. It’s just a figure of speech. Hold Your Fire! This blogging for dummies article is, for the most part, about the blogging vocabulary, or lingo. To understand how to make money blogging , you are required to know a few key terms. For example, domain, platform, blog, and web host are just a few. Once you’ve got the hang of these key components of blogging, you will be able to enter any conversation about blogging with self-confidence. After you know what incisively a blog is, you’ll be on your path to passing the final examination of blogging for dummies.

Here goes:

• Blog is short for weblog, which simply means a series of online posts presented in reverse chronological order. Simple enough!

Most blogs are presented in text format (like the one you are reading right now), but there are also photo blogs and video blogs. The rest of blogging for dummies has to do with the technical side of things.

If you’re going to start a blog to make money, you’ll have to have a platform, a web host, and a domain name, or web address.

• A blogging platform is a computer software program that permits you to publish your posts and to update your web log. In addition, your platform allows you the capability of designing your blog from the size of the font, to the color, to the graphics you choose.

• The web host is sort of like the virtual file cabinet where your blog is stored. Your computer communicates electronically with the host when you make any changes to your blog, such as, upload or edit a post.

• The domain name is the online address of your blog. If you want to make money blogging, you probably should choose a domain name that ends in “dot com” or “dot net.

What that hard? Of course not. Give yourself a pat on the back. You now know what a blog is, what a platform is, and
what domains and web hosts are! You have passed blogging for dummies.

No matter how good your blog posts are they are literally useless unless people read them. And in order for people to read them , they need to make it to your blog . I mean , really make it there . It’s a struggle for them to find good content . And it’s a struggle for you to deliver and get them face to face with your good content .

And … to be honest … this isn’t about showing that you have the best possible car for sale . I’ve already addressed the topic of cloud blogging here . And , whether we like to admit it or not , cloud blogging is a fact . Chances are your content is just a variation of someone else’s ideas . But that’s not a bad thing . Baby steps . Nothing more than baby steps . That’s what evolution is . You take an idea and add a little something . Then someone else takes that idea and ads a little something else to it . And so on and so forth .

Picture a huuuuge parking lot with cars for sale . Every car is a blog . And every salesman is a blogger . Cloud blogging tells us that every car is a slight variation of another car from that parking lot .

And this is where the major rule of attracting visitors comes into play : ‘Don’t promote your blog , promote yourself’ .

This is what it should all be about . There is a very small chance that you are truly adding something brand new to the scene . Even this very blog that you are reading is , most likely , just a copy of someone else’s ideas . I just rearranged them and maybe added something new . That’s it .

Don’t try to reinvent the wheel . You will end up with a basket of frustrations and nothing more . Just use it .

This is what you are selling : yourself . It’s about the salesman that gets attention , not about his car ( surely , his car must be at least the same as everyone else’s ). The point is to get yourself in people’s face. Not in an aggressive manner , obviously . Just let them know that you know something about something . Make sure that after they talk to you they think to themselves : “I like him . He knows stuff .”.

Everyone tells you : promote your blog . Well , to be honest … I think it’s best to just promote yourself . It’s a whole lot easier to get people interested in you than in your blog . It’s easier to speak wisely and be funny and charismatic than it is to write original post after original post ( in fact – the ladder is basically impossible ).

Ohh , and yeah … charisma is an integral part in your blogs success .

Blogs will vary in style, format, and settings, depending upon the preference of the user.  Many blogging platforms offer built in features such as hyperlinking, plugins, pictures etc. In addition, a lot of blogging platforms, even allow you to put video and mp3’s on your blogs.

Basically a blog contains these features:

title- which allows you to label your post
content- this is the body of your post
trackback- other sites can be linked back to your blog
permalink- every article that you write has a URL
comments- this allow readers to post remarks or comments to your posts.

What is a blog page and what’s the difference between it and a regular website? Well, each blog is given a template  and this template is designed to give you, the author, the authority to simply generate pages, categories, different colors, etc.. You name it, it’s in the template. And if it’s not, then there is a little thing called a plugin that will help to totally customize your blog. Unlike, regular websites that are made up of numerous individual pages. Blogs are easier for creators to create new pages, because the templates come ready with a fix setting that include: slots for title, body of the post, category, etc.

This is particularly important for first time users, because they can begin blogging immediately. They can chose from a  number of templates that the blogging platform provide or you can upload different themes in a flash.

Anyone who wants to start a blog or wondering what is a blog can becoming a member of a blogging platform of their choice. The two platforms I recommend are blogger.com (owner by Google), or wordpress.com (simply the most customizable). Once you are a member, you automatically become a part of that particular blogging community. You can browse through other bloggers pages, and link them back to their own blogs. You can also make comments on other members’ blogs.

A blog is not just limited to personal usage. There are numerous blogs that follow a theme such as: sports, government, philosophy, social commentary, etc. These blogs embrace on their particular topics. This way blogging becomes a medium in which people can share their knowledge and beliefs about an assortment of subjects and topics.

A lot of bloggers even use their blogs as a way to promote. For example, authors may promote their books on their blogs. While other bloggers, use their blogs to shed light to currents issues, events, news and disasters.

Many blogs also play an important role in education. Professors use blogging to document the lessons that they have talked about and schooled. This way, pupils who  have missed classes, can easily catch up with their assignments.

A lot of entrepreneurs benefit from blogging by promoting their businesses on their blogs, with millions and millions of people logging into cyberspace each day, blogging has become a lucrative movement. Some bloggers who run online businesses promote their products online. While others turn a profit through advertising.

But by far, the most popular blog type is the one that assumes the form of a personal journal. This is the kind that is usually used by first time bloggers. Individuals who want to document the day-to-day struggle of their everyday lives, poems, rants, views, find that blogging offers them a medium in which to express themselves. Bloggers have the freedom to express themselves how ever way they want.
